LEADERSHIP Birrong Girls fosters the leadership potential of all students. The student voice is an important one: student leaders play a significant role in developing school policy and procedures and contributing to the governance of the school. All students are encouraged to perceive themselves as leaders and work collectively in formal and informal ways to support improvements at local, community and global levels. Students are involved in school governance through the Student Representative Council, the Prefect Body, in public relations, in programs such as peer support and peer tutor reading and in representation in a range of committees including the finance committee. Our environmental leaders work tirelessly to ensure a quality learning environment for all and our school skipping team, affectionately known as the Tricksters, provides strong leadership in healthy lifestyle choices. Student leadership roles are supported through attendance at quality leadership conferences including the Young Leader’s Conference, the Future Leaders’ Symposium, the young Women’s Leadership Forum and the Australian Sister Cities Association Youth Conference. Students also work on short term projects with local councils to promote youth within the local community and support the local community through their involvement in events such as Australian Citizenship Ceremonies.
